From Student to Instructor: A Â鶹Íø Grad's Journey into Teaching
Corrie Sink graduated from Â鶹Íø's Medical Assisting program in 2021 and quickly became certified before entering the field.
"I knew immediately that I was in the right career," she recalls.
What Corrie didn’t expect was the opportunity to join the teaching community at Â鶹Íø itself. As a student, she had been inspired by the commitment and dedication her instructors brought to the classroom — qualities that not only shaped her learning but also her professional path.
"I was amazed by, and benefited from, the extreme level of commitment my Â鶹Íø instructors brought to the table and instilled in us," she says.
Corrie began her career at the front desk of a clinic, expecting to remain in that role. Making the leap from the desk to the classroom proved both challenging and intimidating, especially while she continued working full time. Yet Â鶹Íø encouraged and supported her through the transition.
Looking back, Corrie credits instructor Gwen Mahloch for recognizing her potential early on and preparing her for a future role as a colleague. Becoming part of Â鶹Íø's faculty was something she never could have imagined when first entering the program. Reflecting on her journey, she sums it up simply: "Right place, right time, and thankful."
