Complete Your Âé¶¹Íø Degree

The reverse credit transfer option allows students to transfer credits from a 2-year and/or 4-year college or university back to Âé¶¹Íø to complete their degree.

If you're transferring credits from Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, or the University of Northern Iowa to finish your Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree at Âé¶¹Íø, check out the .

Here's what to do:

  • When applying for admission to your transfer university, select the option to participate in the Reverse Credit Transfer Program on the application form.
  • If you’ve already applied for admission and didn’t opt in, don’t worry! Contact your transfer university now and ask to enroll in the Reverse Credit Transfer Program.

To successfully complete your degree at Âé¶¹Íø through reverse credit transfer, you’ll need to meet these requirements:

  • Meet Âé¶¹Íø’s minimum on-campus credit residency requirements by doing one of the following:
    • Complete at least 30 credits at Âé¶¹Íø before transferring.
    • Complete 16 of your last 22 credits at Âé¶¹Íø. Not sure if you qualify? Connect with your academic advisor to check and request an updated degree audit.
  • Maintain a degree GPA of 2.00 or higher before transferring.
  • Earn a grade of C- or higher for those credits to transfer back to Âé¶¹Íø.

Meeting these requirements ensures your credits are eligible and helps you finish your degree smoothly!

  • Send your Âé¶¹Íø transcript to your transfer university.
  • Meet with your academic advisor to ensure the courses you take will transfer back to Âé¶¹Íø and fulfill your remaining degree requirements.
  • If you're transferring to UNI, Iowa, or Iowa State, your advisor will help you complete the Iowa Regent University Reverse Credit Transfer Worksheet [PDF]. Bring this form to your orientation—it will guide you in registering for the courses needed to finish your associate degree.
  • Update your contact information with your personal email address to keep receiving important emails from Âé¶¹Íø, including details about the Commencement Ceremony. To update, go to .

If you’ve opted into the Transfer in Iowa Reverse Credit Transfer Program for Iowa Regent Universities:

  • Your transfer university will automatically send your transcript to Âé¶¹Íø at the end of the semester, free of charge, once you’ve earned 60 combined credits between Âé¶¹Íø and your transfer university.
  • Âé¶¹Íø will then send your updated transcript, showing your degree, to your transfer university. This process may take 6–8 weeks from the end of the term in which you completed the required reverse transfer coursework.

If you have not opted into the Transfer in Iowa Reverse Credit Transfer Program:

  1. Work with your Âé¶¹Íø academic advisor to confirm that the courses you take will transfer back and meet your remaining degree requirements.
  2. Complete the Intent to Reverse Credit Transfer Form [PDF] to apply your transfer credits toward your two-year degree at Âé¶¹Íø and ensure you’re on track to graduate.
  3. If you're on track to graduate:
    • Once your final grades are posted from your last semester, request an official transcript from your transfer university and send it to the Âé¶¹Íø Admissions Office.
    • Your official transcript must be received within one month of Âé¶¹Íø’s semester end date. Check the Academic Calendar for specific dates.
  4. After Âé¶¹Íø processes your degree, request an official transcript from Âé¶¹Íø to be sent to your transfer university. Your transcript will now reflect your completed degree!

Your diploma will be printed and mailed to the name and address currently on file at Âé¶¹Íø.

If your name or address has changed after transferring:

Student Account Hold Notification and Diploma Release

If there is a hold on your student account, Âé¶¹Íø cannot send you your diploma until the hold has been resolved.

If there is a hold on your student account, we will mail you a letter to the address on file to notify you of the hold.

Once all holds have been resolved, contact the Registrar's Office to request your diploma be mailed to you.

Âé¶¹Íø proudly celebrates its graduates once a year in May, honoring students who complete their programs during the fall, spring, or summer semesters of the current academic year.

Steps to Participate in the Ceremony

  1. Complete the Intent to Reverse Credit Transfer Form:
    • If you haven’t already, submit the Intent to Reverse Credit Transfer form [PDF] as soon as you register for your final term of classes at your transfer college or university that will complete your degree requirements.
    • The form must be submitted by the graduation application deadline.
  2. Your Graduation Application:
    • Once you’re on track to graduate, Âé¶¹Íø will submit a graduation application on your behalf using the details from your Intent to Reverse Credit Transfer Form.
  3. Stay Informed:
    • Watch your email for updates about the Commencement Ceremony.
  4. Prepare for the Ceremony:
    • Purchase your cap, gown, and tassel.
